BABSHA intends to re-envision what it means to communicate the stories that began and arrived at Jamaica-Hillside.

Storefront illustrations are essential to district marketing.

Our goal is to create versatile storytelling that’ll propel our community to feel not only familiar but connected to businesses that they’ve heard of but never walked into.

After this storefront came to Hillside, soon after, the avenue flourished with thriving businesses.

Jamaica Pharmacy is a pioneer as one of the oldest businesses on Hillside Avenue, and now a neighborhood staple!

Here is where you’ll be met with passionate employees that provide empathetic and people-first efforts when it comes to pharmaceutical counseling.

Here, Bangladeshis don’t have to fear being misunderstood.

Mannan Supermarket is known for its role in pioneering Bangladeshi businesses in Jackson Heights and was also instrumental in the formation of the Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association (JBBA).

Founded in 1996 by Syed Rahman Mannan, the first Mannan Supermarket was a small grocery and halal meat store in Jackson Heights, NY.

The business expanded widely to include Queens and the Bronx, and most recently, a new store in Coney Island, Brooklyn under new leadership preserving Mannan’s legacy.

For years, DHCare Home Care Agency has been a pillar in Hillside, founded on unwavering principles of family, community, and diversity by providing essential health resources and fostering civic engagement.

Their commitment to providing state-of-the-art, compassionate in-home care through highly-trained professionals has made them a trusted name, ensuring that Bangladeshis and all clients can live healthy, fulfilling lives with dignity.

In early 2025, Matha Nosto opened with the goal of bringing authentic street food to Hillside Avenue, and has since become a household name for Bengali Jamaica-Hillside residents.

With their Dhaka-inspired street food menu and radiant rickshaw aesthetic, Matha Nosto quickly rose to fame, attracting both residents of the area and Bengalis from all over the tri-state area to visit Hillside Avenue for a taste of their cuisine.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Matha Nosto’s owner, Shekh, and learn about his journey as a business owner.

Khaamar Baari Supermarket joined Hillside Avenue in 2016 and has been serving the Bengali and South Asian community ever since.

They carry an array of vibrant groceries and classic Bengali and Indian food products, ensuring that Jamaica-Hillside residents are receiving the very best.
